      OasISS Mission with Frank de Winne
      Europe is about to embark upon its next long-duration mission to the International Space Station. During OasISS, as the mission is called, ESA astronaut Frank De Winne will work on the International Space Station for six months. This video outlines De Winnes role in the mission, both as an astronaut performing scientific and operational tasks and as the first European to command the ISS.

      The European Space Agency is about to embark upon its second long-term mission to the International Space Station.

      Frank De Winne, a Belgian member of ESAís Astronaut Corps, will be launched onboard a Russian Soyuz spacecraft this May for a six-month stay in orbit. This will be the longest stay onboard the station since the German astronaut Thomas Reiterís mission in 1996, which lasted 171 days.
      Frank has been a member of the European Astronaut Corps for nine years, and thisíll be his second flight to the space station.

      Heíll be travelling to the ISS along with Canadian Space Agency astronaut Robert Thirsk and the Russian cosmonaut Roman Romanenko.
