Glenn piloted the Mercury-Atlas 6 ""Friendship 7"" spacecraft on the first manned orbital mission of the United States, on February 20th 1962. Partly to perform experiments connected with microgravity and the ageing process, he will fly as a payload specialist on the NASA STS-95 mission.
